That's right! LL Cool J! I'm going! Ya Baby! I know, most of you think that I am a big science nerd / dork, that listens to country music and sports radio, but I'm actually an old school rap fan too! LL Cool J is one of my favorites right along with Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer. I've seen Vanilla Ice live and now LL! The concert is on June 6, I can't wait!
So here we are, the Late Night Swim Club, minus one tall lanky fellow who yells at us. It turns out he likes to vacation so he doesn't get to be in the picture. Sorry Greg!
This is us last night at the last swim before the Splash Pedal and Gasp Triathlon in Lethbridge on Sunday morning. None of us had ever tried to wear a tri top in the pool before so we thought we would give it a shot and take a picture too! It turns out that the Legend Coaching tops were a little too loose and the drag kind of sucked. I did however, put on my other tri top from Top Gun Coatings which is skin tight and that worked great. Leslie and Darryl are not going to wear tops in their Olympic distance swims but I will for my short 200 m super sprint. It won't save them any time in transition but for me it for sure will. Maybe it will cover the 25 seconds I lost a medal by last year in this event!
The swim tonight was fast and hard. We did 10 sets of 50 meter sprints with 15 seconds rest, then 8 sets of 100 m sprints with 20 seconds rest and finally 5 more 50's with only 10 seconds rest. The goal was to bring up the intensity and bring down the volume to taper us a little bit for the weekend.
The rest of the week so far has been pretty easy. After our long ride on Sunday, I did a short 35 minute recovery spin at the gym then swam with Darryl on Monday night. Tuesday I took off and enjoyed the playoffs at a pub with a friend. Tomorrow I will bike on my brother's mountain bike to get comfortable on it for the race and make any adjustments. I spent 4 hours cleaning and getting it race ready for the weekend yesterday!
I will get one more post done here with some goals and a race preview before we leave on Saturday for Lethbridge, stay tuned!
