Hey blogees,
I am pleased to announce that everything is going...... just going, which is a good thing. It seems that I have been training pretty consistently with triathlon over the past few weeks.
Since the weather is almost dare I say, nice, I have found that I have been concentrating with a lot of cardio lately. On Monday, I biked with a client on the spin bikes for a good 55 minutes then feeling the weather I headed outside for a quick 15 minute transition run. I think last year in total I did 1 transition run, so I was pretty excited about it. I felt pretty well, the whole time and didn't seem to feel any jello leg syndrome from the biking right before hand. After work on Monday I headed to the pool to meet up with the swim club. As soon as I got in the water I felt like a lead weight. I made it about 25 minutes or so, then decided to cut my losses and headed to the hot tub to warm up, then to the weight room to get a short arm workout in.
Wednesday night was swimming again. This time as soon as I got in the water I felt good. We didn't do too much stuff, just some shorter faster sets and I am pleased to announce that I can ALMOST keep up with Leslie. Once the sets got longer than 150 m I started to fall off a bit but I am pretty happy about that anyway.
Thursday I got a quick ride in again at the gym. I did a 5 minute warm up, then 1 minute single leg with a 1 minute rest x 5 for each leg. I was telling Leslie about how dead my legs were after it and it turns out that I was pushing a little bit too hard for the single leg sets. Triathletes apparently have this thing called Max Aerobic Power in which you get the lactic acid build up in your legs but you can still filter it out. You're legs are burning but you can barely keep going. Correct me if I'm wrong! Anyway, that is what I was doing for my single leg stuff, which would signify why my legs felt like falling off after I finished the 30 minute ride. Oh well, after a couple of hours they loosened up, and are just tired now! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Right???
I hope tomorrow to get some strength training in. I have been feeling kind of weak and soft as of late, so I hope to get some heavier stuff tomorrow. I haven't decided what yet, but hopefully something. I also need to get my butt running a bit more as well. I just don't like treadmills and the weather doesn't seem to be on my side yet. One day, hopefully sooner than later!
Keep rockin'!!!
