Hey!
So Sunday was the first of 3 indoor climbing sessions at The Crux Climbing and Bouldering here in Calgary. I organized a group of 21 people to take 3, 2 hour sessions for consecutive Sundays in March. Today was the first day and it was AWESOME!

We got there at about 9:45 am. The building doesn't open to the public until noon so we were the only ones in the facility. We spent about 45 minutes going over all the technical and safety stuff, then found partners and got to climb right away!
I started with Josh, one of my clients who already climbed before and boy was he good. We were only first supposed to go up about 10 feet to learn things but since Josh knew what he was doing, Steve, the instructor, said I could go as high as I wanted. I had never climbed before and made it up about 50 or 55 feet before I looked down. Holy crap, that is high. It was pretty challenging. Everything was hurting already, shoulders, arms, forearms, and mostly my fingertips!
Once I got down Josh went up and scaled up the wall even going over the part where the wall goes into the middle on a incline at the very top. I was much impressed! We all got a few climbs in before the 2 hours were up. I am super excited for next week. Steve said next week we get into climbing techniques and body positioning and some bouldering (which I had to ask is like climbing from one side of a cave to another on top, no ropes). On the third session, more climbing then repelling from the very top down. We got lots to look forward too! Everyone there seemed to enjoy it as well, so it will probably be something we do again in the next few months.
As for the rest of the week it was pretty uneventful. I slacked off and only made it for 2 swims and a run all week. I just can't seem to get over the motivation hump that I have hit with weights. I'm excited to lift, but ready to go home when it's time to do it after work. Hopefully more next week.
Tonight the late night Legend Coaching Swim Club (what we call ourselves) met again. We were all pretty tired and unmotivated but having everyone there sure helped. We got lots of warm up done, drills, golf with all my 4 scores under 80 for the first time ever (78,77,78,76 - which is a new PB), then we got into the work. He wanted 4 x 100m building which means on each set you should be faster than the one before. I did 2:02, 1:57, 1:54, and 1:48 or something like that. Needless to say I did it right! Good things! Then we were supposed to do 4 x 200m build. I only made it through 3 of them before I ran out of time but my times were 4:38, 4:17, and then I'm VERY EXCITED to say a new personal best EVER at 3:50. My last one last week was my best before at 3:53. Every week is getting better. Greg said we are going to get under 3:30 by the time of the Super Sprint Tri in May! Top Gun Racing, Team Legend REPRESENT!!!

Other than that, we have our first running race of the year next weekend in Lethbridge. It is the Moonlight Run that we have done for the last 4 years. Last year was the first time I did the 6km race and that is what I am doing again. Am I ready? Nope. Not close. I have a funny feeling I am going to be one hurting unit come next Sunday morning climbing after the race on Saturday night! Hopefully I can get a couple light jogs in this week but the weather doesn't seem to be helping. More news and goals for the race to come this week!
Until then,
