So, it turns out that I am a spontaneous shopper. When I bought my truck, I woke up one morning and said 'I'm going to buy a truck today', then did. I did the same thing with a computer and my bike. Today, I had that feeling again. The real big problem is that Leslie did too!!!
Meet our new family member, REXY!
Meet our new family member, REXY!
On our way to Spokane last month, Leslie put forth a convincing argument (with tears involved), that she wanted a dog. We have been dating for over 6 years now and she has been asking for about 5 of those. I kept saying no, but she got me good on that trip. Right after we got home, she started looking at breeders and breeds and we finally decided that we were going to get a Weimaraner, a German hunting dog bred for hunting wild boar and deer in the forests. It is considered to be a very prestigious dog and was once only for the higher class. Hitler actually had 2 of them. She found a breeder just east of Olds that had just had a litter and was going to have another litter in the spring. We decided to go out and take a look, meet the breeder, the mom and dad, and hopefully commit to a puppy in the spring or early summer.
Boy, did I learn my lesson. NEVER go to look at puppies unless you plan on taking one home!!!! We spent a hour or so playing around with them and chatting with the breeders, thoroughly convinced that this was the dog for us! As it turns out, they had one female puppy from the litter left and ready to go home. I was strong, said thank you and we headed to Olds to have lunch. Sometime during lunch, it turns out that we figured now was as good time as ever, made a call to the landlord for the ok, then called the breeder back. We were taking Rexy home today!
We ran to get a dog home thing (whatever they are called), some toys, money, and we were back at the breeders signing papers!! Whoaaaaaaaa! What just happened? I've never had a dog in my life, so to me I was kind of overwhelmed. Leslie was quite the opposite however, bouncing around, even shaking she was so excited! Soon enough we were headed home, with 7 week old Rexy on her lap!
I LOVE that dog!! It is sooooooo cute, and cuddly, and clumsy. It has spent the first half a day pretty much sleeping, but it did seem to start bouncing around after we got home from supper tonight with the family. It's pretty good so far, only 2 messes to clean up, no barks, and no hair around. It has however seemed to take quite an interest in my running shoes though. Uh oh. I can't wait to see how it goes tonight. We had it in it's kennel while we went for supper and it stumbled in, laid down and did not make one single peep! So far so good!!! I'm pretty excited, but I think my dad is more excited! He had the puppy stuffed in his coat the whole time at the breeders and I thought he was going to run away with it! I don't think he would have got far though, it's pretty flat east of Olds!
Leslie and I both have to work tomorrow, so it will be alone for a few hours. Leslie has been saying she is going to call in sick though for a little extra doggy time! She better not, I want the extra doggy time!
Have a good Sunday! Rexy looks forward to meeting all of you soon!!!
Grizz daddy
This last one is Rexy's mom, and probably what Rexy will look like in a year!

I'm glad you made the move and are now a proud puppy daddy! I can't say you'll never regret it, but you will have fun beyond what you can imagine. Can't wait to meet Rexy (neither can Sadie or Sawyer:)!
Rexy is sooo adorable!! Congratulations!! By the way, she or he? You said 'it' in your post!
She, he said earlier that they had only one female left I think. Wooooooooooooooo for Rexy's home, what a good mom/pop combo power lifter and triathlete.
