Hey!
I was just down in our parking garage in the basement changing a headlight on my truck and cleaning it out. I went to go and put all the empty water bottles I collect in the backseat into the garbage can I have to take to recycling. The can was gone. Hhmmmm. Then I noticed, the 4 garbage bags full of empties were gone too. Double hmmmm. I found the can thrown into a corner completely empty. Get this, somebody stole my empties! I had probably about $20 down there waiting to be cashed in for Coronas in Mexico, now I don't. Doesn't that make you mad! Anyway, enough about that, I'm just happy they didn't break into my truck!
Since it was Remembrance Day today, I didn't have to go to work. It turned out to be quite a productive day, once I dragged myself out of bed, then off the couch. We got passport photos taken, got me a haircut and went to Crappy Tire to get some truck stuff and Christmas things.
The best part was the evening though. Iron Fist Greg has a group class of cycling every Tuesday and Thursday nights with all his clients and because I work every night I have never got to go. Since no work today, I headed to class with Leslie! All week Greg has been putting these evil little fears into my head about class and how much fun (??????) it is going to be. It turned out pretty well!
We started with a warm up, a nice easy spin until everybody got there and organized. That lasted about 25 minutes. The the real warm up began. He calls it a warm up but it was more like legs burning session because by this time on my own I am already off my bike! We did single leg stuff for about 6 sets (I think) with some light stuff in between. On the last 3 sets we did accelerations too, which is 15 seconds bringing your cadence (RPMs) up progressively so you reach about 90% as fast as you can go. Leslie's max was 152 RPM and I'd hate to rub it in (NOT!) but I got mine up to 154. Yeah, my legs were burning. By the end of this 'warm up' I think I had been on the bike for about 45 minutes and my ass hurt.
When we finished that we went into our 'working sets'. We did 2 minutes at 110 RPM, 2 minutes rest, then 2 minutes at 100 RPM, 2 minutes rest and completed that cycle 5 times. It was supposed to be an aerobic building day, but the way I was breathing, I don't quite think I was much in the aerobic zone, unless gasping for air and feeling the Subway I ate before coming back up counts! It actually got a bit easier as we went along. Whether it was just a good rhythm or lack of sensation in my legs from my sore ass / crotch. Either way I made it. I was drenched. Sweating like a pig I'll tell you, but it was fun. I would love to do this once or twice a week, I can only imagine how much it helps when it comes to summertime! Thanks Greg! Here are a couple pictures! Notice the sweat on the front of my hat on the first one!

Needless to say, since I knew I would be biking tonight I didn't lift weights at all on Monday. Instead I went to the pool and did a nice relaxed swim workout. I wanted to do a conditioning day, instead of the speed work Greg and I had been working on. I did my first 500 m non-stop set! It's really starting to come, but I find it so much harder to swim when I am by myself. Oh well, the super sprint triathlon next year won't be with friends, it will be on my own, better get used to it!
Have a great day everyone, I'm going to bed!
